And Breathe! So I guess I’m writing this because a Tweet or Facebook status just don’t cut it when it comes to a deeper form of self expression, visible thinking or whatever else you want to call this post :D Also, in the spirit of sharing, what I have to say may be applicable to some readers out there so there’s an opportunity for a learning moment in here somewhere too.
It’s edging towards midnight on Wednesday as I continue to navigate myself through a difficult week. I feel like I’m getting deeper and deeper into the unknown as the week passes. Now, don’t get me wrong! This is not a bad thing (or a good thing for that matter), It’s just an unfamiliar feeling for me. To break it down, I have some large challenges to face in the coming months and on one side of the coin I genuinely believe I’m more than capable and ready to take each and everyone one of them on, but on the other side, there’s a level of apprehension and anxiety about how I get going. The comfortable feeling of structure and certainty we experience from time to time in life has temporally being replaced with some disorientation (hence the title).
Between my professional career and my educational pursuit, I’ve got to push harder than ever before to obtain what I believe is something I’ve yet to fully define. I tend to set general goals for myself and only I know when I’m on the way to achieving them. I positioned 2011 to be a year of renewal or even rebirth in my head and believe that the Universe is giving me just that.
The picture above represents my mind at the moment. A long road that lies ahead and it’s my job to create what it is I want to see on that horizon. This is something that takes a huge investment of time and energy and my advice to anyone reading this post is that they take some of that time to also define their own horizon. It’s definitely there, you just have to dig deep to see it. Once we’ve decided where it is we hope to arrive at, we need to ask ourselves who we’d like to bring along and how we’d like to kick start the journey?. Is it going to be a one man walk or a million man march?. These are questions that aren’t answered easily and require a lot of consideration. Such journeys are peppered with dilemmas and this is the reason for my post today.
With some guidance from Rainer Maria Rilke it’s clear where our focus must lie:
The only journey is the journey within
In understanding what we want and acknowledging that we deserve it, one thing I am convicted to is that I stretch and grow in 2011 through challenge and passion to succeed. I’ll very deliberately step outside my comfort zone and chase my dreams more aggressively than ever! I will not compromise and won’t accept negativity or barriers from anyone!
This is not just my challenge, It’s everyones!
I challenge you all to ask yourself this,
What will make 2011 the most remarkable year in your life? and how do you go about creating the circumstances to achieve just that?
Much love and peace out <3
